I know I didn't ...Michael,

Thanks for your response. I know I didn't hide the fact that I was a bit pissed after the triathlon. Emotions get amped with the heat of the moment, the passion of the race, and all those steroids I shoot up my butt before the starting gun - and I have no trouble wearing mine on my sleeve.

Although we all train hard and hold our sport dearly, no sport is more dear than a human being and a relationship. I don't want to go through this season embittered towards you Michael, so although I disagree with the race results, please understand that I highly respect your abilities, I don't think you're a cheater, and I'd genuinely like to move past this tiff.

Hell, I'll even buy you a martini at the next Twig's meeting, or at least let you sip out of mine with a double straw. Here's to good sporting.

BenBen Greenfieldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14950441963524707736noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4585933584736786061.post-19330553280754055862008-03-30T22:53:00.000-07:002008-03-30T22:53:00.000-07:00Ben, you're a great racer and a very entertaining ...Ben, you're a great racer and a very entertaining guy. The race director's decision, made BEFORE we swam, allowed 5 troops to participate. Unlike open water, swimming is comparable in pools. We didn't break any rules and gain an advantage. Rather, we strapped on bullet proof vests, carried weapons and worked ALL night serving our country, not sleeping comfortably at home. That's our "MO." I was eager to race against you for the first time. We did get to bike and run against each other and the gap was known before we started. I respect your talent, now more than before and am sorry things didn't work out how you had planned. I offered to give my award back and/or to go to a pool after the race to prove my swim time. It all boiled down to a head-to-head 2-mile run putting me comfortably ahead and with more speed if I needed it. I left with a bitter feeling too, despite racing so well. Racing is supposed to be a fun challenge and celebration. It would have been a meaningless win if I was penalized on a triviality, especially since we're on the same tri team. I just wanted to race, so please don't think I'm a bad guy. Instead, make me pay next time we race.Michael W.
